Roaches
Of all the pests that can invade your home, one of the most fearsome to many people is the cockroach. Roaches have over 4,500 different species, and some of them just don’t understand boundaries.
When roaches invade your home, not only do they not pay rent, but they’re happy to touch all your stuff and even sample your food. These pests can be downright rude!
In addition, they’re sneaky assassins, so when you try to confront them about the problem, cockroaches tend to usually scatter and hide in the cracks and crevices of your home. How do you evict a selfish bug that contaminates all your guacamole?
Call in a professional. TrueNature Pest Control treats for roaches of all kinds and has been doing so for years!
Stop Buying Over the Counter Roach Sprays
Oftentimes when we are called out for a roach treatment, we notice that people will have a few (or a few dozen) cans of over-the-counter roach spray. Some people will spray and spray for roaches for months with limited success. Don’t waste your money on these ineffective methods.
What this does is temporarily “kill” roaches. But haven’t you wondered why they keep coming back? Sprays only unleash the worst side of roaches. Again, these aren’t your local pest or itchy bed bugs problem. How so? Dead cockroaches tend to attract more roaches. Still think roaches fall in the local pest category?
What you need is an effective treatment plan and highly trained pest control experts to flush these bugs out of your home. Fortunately, our experienced pest control service knows how to get rid of roaches and keep them out!

Different Kinds of Roaches
There are about 30 species of cockroaches that commonly invade people’s homes. The most common of these include: American Roaches, German Roaches, Smoky-Brown Roaches, Brown-Banded Roaches, Asian Roaches, and Oriental Roaches. Each species has slightly different traits and habits.
The German Cockroach is famous for infesting kitchens, bathrooms, and other wet areas of the home. German Roaches are smaller than some other types of roaches, but they multiply very quickly. They can live for up to a year and lay between 200-300 eggs! They can transmit a variety of bacterial infections and are an overall nuisance in the home.
If you’d like a little professional insight in the battle against roaches in your home, TrueNature Pest Control would be happy to help you and your pest control needs!
Cockroach Pest Control FAQs and Advice
Cockroach infestations are nasty and bothersome problems, and while they are quite common, they can be difficult to contain and control. The best methods are always the preventive measures you can take to keep them from invading in the first place, but what can you do if it’s too late and the roaches are already making themselves at home? What are some preventive measures you can take to get rid of nasty roaches? First, let’s take a look at some of the possible options.
What Pest Control Method Is the Most Effective Treatment for My Home?
What are your other options if you aren’t keen on using bug bombs or foggers to treat your infestation? What is the most effective treatment that is also environmentally safe for you and everyone in your home?
Diatomaceous Earth (DE). DE is a much beloved bug infestation treatment. Useful against any crawling insect, DE is composed of pulverized fossilized algae that damage insects’ exoskeletons as they walk over it. The damage causes the insects to dehydrate and die quickly. You can buy food-grade DE and sprinkle it anywhere cockroaches are hanging out.
Baking Soda. Another effective method of killing cockroaches utilizes something most people already have at hand—baking soda. When cockroaches consume baking soda, it creates gas in their stomachs that eventually causes them to explode. Sprinkle baking soda over diced onions in a shallow dish and place where the roaches will find it.
Boric acid or Borax. While they sound similar, boric acid and Borax are not the same. Boric acid is a pesticide, and Borax is a common cleaning agent. However, both substances have a similar purpose for killing cockroaches. Both can be mixed with sugar and placed where cockroaches will find it. If cockroaches ingest the mixture, they will eventually die, but first, they will unknowingly bring the poison back to their nest, and kill off many cockroaches.
However, we don’t recommend a DIY solution for cockroach infestations. If a cockroach nest exists in your home, killing roaches won’t solve the problem. You need a professional pest control service to treat the cockroach nest and rid the problem once and for all.
Prevention Advice on Your Cockroach Infestation and Pest Problem
Once a cockroach infestation is taken care of, what can you do to prevent future pest problems? How can you make your home unappealing to them?
Clean up. Roaches like crumbs, so sweeping your floors regularly, not letting the sink or dishwasher fill up with dirty dishes, and wiping up the countertops will significantly reduce the appeal of your house to a cockroach.
Check for damp, dark places. Cockroaches like living in dark and damp environments, so if you have a leaky faucet or pipe under the sink or in the bathroom, cockroaches might show up to make it their home.
Wipe down pet bowls. Pet bowls are an unnoticed source of bug trouble. Although pet bowls often provide both a source of food and water, keeping pet bowls clean and dry can prevent infestation.
Mop with lemon oil. Cockroaches hate citrus, so what better way to keep them at bay and keep your house smelling great at the same time than to add a few drops of lemon oil to your mop water?
Use essential oils. A few drops of essential oil on a cotton ball strategically placed around your house will ward off cockroaches. Peppermint and lemongrass are especially repulsive to them, though you will need to replace them every six weeks or so.
What to Look for When Choosing a Pest Control Company?
Pesticides can be destructive and unsafe. Only certified professionals can be trusted to use them safely, so hiring a pest control service/company should be a serious undertaking. Here are a few questions to consider when choosing a pest control company:
Are their technicians certified and licensed? Do they have formal background on how to solve pest problems?
Can the pest control service provide a list of references?
How well do others rate them in your area?
Are their rates competitive? How do other local pest control services compare?
Does the pest control service work with safe & approved pesticides? (no secret recipes, all pesticides have to be registered by the U.S. EPA and the States Department of Agriculture)
How is their customer service? Are they helpful?
Only after you have assured yourself of a pest control company’s reputability should you hire them for your problem.
